Dear Friend,
We invite you to join The Graystone Society, and its National Iron and Steel Heritage Museum (NISHM), to become a part of our rich past and exciting future.
Community events, bus trips, summer programs and a series of lectures are among last year’s accomplishments, thanks to members like you. With your participation, the vision for 2012 will be made possible, including the restoration of Graystone Mansion into an educational center. We recognize that donors like you are vital to our work.
Our events create relevance in the community and fulfill our mission to promote an understanding of the iron and steel history of Coatesville.
- Coatesville Remembers September 11 is a commemoration of the triumph of the steelworkers who created the steel for the World Trade Centers, the tragedy of those who lost their lives in 2011, and the first responders who risked everything in the rescue and recovery efforts.
- The NISHM hosts trips to other museums and historic sites for an interpretation of iron and steel’s history and its relationship to the region, and the nation.
- Summer programs aid in our mission to reach audiences of all ages and interests.
- Three fundraising events allow us to continue our public programs and to manage our collections.
- A lecture series is conducted to forward the display and interpretation of the history of iron and steel.
None of this would be possible without you. Membership in the NISHM helps to cover general administrative costs, opens our properties to the public and coordinates our educational programs. As a member, you will receive numerous benefits (listed on the application form), including advance notice of events and eligibility for discounts at many events throughout the year.
The National Iron & Steel Heritage Museum is about more than just the physical restoration of historic buildings and the acquisition of artifacts - we are also concerned with the restoration of the pride in our shared heritage and history. Please join us in becoming a member.
